construction of a response
This is how I decided to reply to Warner Brother's marketing. Took me a while to come up with it:

I often get e-mail from various people who wish to advertise on this site. Be it a novel or a song they wrote that has nothing to do with Louis or some sort of vampire related products that have NOTHING to do with Louis. When I started this site way back in 1995, I said that I would not use this as an advertising forum for vampire material or anything unrelated to Louis at all. I also said I would not make any sort of money from this site (thus why you see no affiliations to Amazon.com). All such e-mail I have always ignored and trashed without a reply (and all of you who do write to me know that I always reply in some shape or form).

But last week, I received an e-mail from someone involved in the marketing department of Warner Brothers' new upcoming movie, The Queen of the Damned. You may have seen this e-mail on Deb's Queen of the Damned site and obviously, she will be cooperating in this event. When I opened it, I had a natural human response. I was excited. Why? This is from Warner Brothers. I asked around what should I do. But in the end it had to be my decision.

I reminded myself the purpose of this site...to display the pure joy and devotion towards one vampire and that is Louis de Pointe du Lac. This is not a regular vampire site. Nor will it mention Anne Rice or any of her other works. Nor will I make a whole entire site devoted to the other characters. There are other sites out there that are far better than mine on that regard. This movie has purposely left out the character of Louis for being considered a "nonintegral" part of the film. I will not be giving my opinion on this decision made by the scriptwriters, the director and the producer because that should be placed elsewhere on my site. However, since this movie will involve Louis in no shape or form, than why should it be included on this site? Why should I advertise such a movie on here? If one notices in the movie sequel news, I stopped adding material when I found out Louis was not in the movie. Although one may think I am being snobby about this, I must maintain a level of integrity on here. Agreeing to display banner ads, prize giveaways and whatever else they are thinking in forms of promotion would cheapen this site and cheapen Louis as well. What would the visitors think if this site involved in something that is not about the Beautiful One because that is one of the major reasons they come here? I am not saying that what I'm doing is what should be done by all the other Ricean related websites that received such an e-mail. I am saying this for this site and from my own personal standard. And I'm not saying you should all boycott the film either (because I'll most likely see it even though it makes me shudder from horror).

So, this is my decision. I will not be involved in the promotion of this movie because there is no reason for me to do so. Like all self-promotion e-mail, I will not reply directly to that person, but if she swings through, she will read this: I do not regretfully decline your offer. Any of you that have comments on this decision, you may feel free to e-mail me.

I think you made the right decision, [beams] I must say, you have a lot more integrity than I would have had in your shoes; I probably would have said yes the second I got the email, [sweatdrop] As for going to see the movie...hmm. I admit curiosity, but the problem is the last time I got curious I read "Merrick." [laughs] I still haven't even read "Blood and Gold" yet, come to think of it. Am I really missing that much?

I think I'll go for curiosities sake. But then again...may be I'm more into self-punishment than I let myself to believe.

Haven't read Blood and Gold. I doubt we're missing anything.
